The presentation of the Romanian traditional folk civilization, the exceptional graphics, the quality of the great number of pictures and films, the bilingual version of the text, written both in Romanian and English, the genuine folk music peculiar to the villages where the monuments come from, make the CD-ROM a special gift. The "electronic travel" allow the visitors to select the route, following: - the role of the present museum as a successor, from the conceptual and patrimonial view, of the first ethnographic and historic museum of the Romanian people of Transylvania, called "The "ASTRA" Museum, founded in 1905 in the town of Sibiu, and arbitrary abolished in 1950, from ideological reasons - the presentation of the monuments placed in The Open Air Museum within the frame of six thematic domains, or, following their geographical origin by means of a sensitive map, or, corresponding to their location in the museum - MUSEUM VIVUM - the presentation of the main events organized in the museum, by means of video sequences presenting: - The children's competition "Traditional Artistic Handicrafts" - The Romanian Artisans' Fair - The Academy of Traditional Handicrafts of Romania - The "ASTRA" Local Laboratory of Preservation and Restoration - Folk Treasure - Features of Sibiu The thematic outline of the museum - traditional folk civilization - is illustrated by: - Traditional occupations: - fishing - bees keeping, bees waxing and candle making - animal breeding and grazing - fruit and wine growing - Traditional folk industries: - oil pressing - miller's trade - Techniques and means of communication and transport - Traditional Handicrafts: - wood processing - mineral and metal processing - pottery art - Textile home industry and hydraulic industry for textile processing - Social and public edifices The children's competition "Traditional Artistic Handicrafts" The museum project of preserving and revitalizing the traditional handicrafts and the authentic folk art makes possible the yearly organization of the children's competition "Traditional Artistic Handicrafts", which develops the talent and the necessary skills encouraging the creation of real traditional folk values .
